The History of Vibration Training

Originally vibration training was developed to treat Russian cosmonauts. It served to counteract the negative impact of weightlessness, such as loss of muscle mass and strength, or loss of bone density.

What is Vibration Training?
Vibration training is a method of strength and coordination training that is easy on the joints. The training is carried out on a plate that vibrates, which sends impulses to the body and is based on the stretch-reflex mechanism of the muscles. This is an automatic reflex, which through the alternating muscle contraction and relaxation preserves good muscle tone, a crucial element of good posture. The training is carried out through the combination of the following parameters, that are selected according to the goal, fitness level and exercise chosen. These are frequency, amplitude, the duration as well as the respective body position.

Because of the high frequency the muscle has to frequently and quickly contract and then relax again. Depending on the setting the muscles repeat this sequence between 15 (15Hz) and 50 (50Hz) times per second. This is why vibration training is one of the most effective exercise methods. A 10 minute session can replace the hour long work out.
